A graduate of Dartmouth College and with a Masters in Education specializing in counseling and grief counseling, Nanny has worked with families facing a myriad of life-altering experiences for over 20 years. But when her father was dying from Parkinson's, her mom was suddenly diagnosed with aggressive and terminal leukemia and, in the midst of it all, her husband died (for 10 minutes) from a cardiac arrest, Nanny was thrust into an unimaginable world. With a determined mind coupled with a necessary sense of humor, she soldiered on to create a life of advocacy for the aging replete with no regrets. (There might have been a little medicinal alcohol involved too :)
Life is hard. Period. And caring for your parents or an older loved one is a lonely business rife with bittersweet emotion. I want you to know most importantly that YOU ARE NOT ALONE, and that YOU ARE LOVED! I am here to support, listen, make you laugh, and speak on the pitfalls surrounding caring for aging parents and loved ones. Through my years, I have learned ways to navigate systems that are designed to confuse, as well as create emotional safeguards for when things get tough.
I am that person in Terms of Endearment yelling,
"Give Her the Medicine!"
